Your first hour on Amberfall
Nothing here is harsh. You can't starve, and losing a fight just sends you back to try again. So poke at things.
Landing
Everyone spawns in Tamer’s Haven, the Sky Hub. The safe starting camp on the island itself is Castaway Cove, a wrecked expedition camp on the south beach. There's a trader, a Tamer's Bench for crafting and a stash chest that keeps 40 slots of your stuff.
The Tamer's Journal walks you through the first steps in order. After that, a small chip on screen always tells you your next goal.
Your first tame
The beach has easy dinos on it right from the start:
A Dodo is the gentlest start. It won't fight you; walk up with Tamer's Mash or Amberberry and start the bond.
- Pick a dino. Passive ones you can just walk up to. Bigger ones need knocking out first.
- Read the dino. The bond is a short run of cues. Offer food (EX (Square)tap Feed on screen), calm it (hold Ghold LT (L2)hold Calm on screen) and bonk on the cue (Left clickRT (R2)attack button).
- Fill the bond. Bigger dinos take longer. Size is the only thing that changes taming time.
The Stable
The Stable is a menu, not a building. Open it with TUp (D-pad up) then Tamestames button, top bar. It lists every dino you own. From there you can sort them, release one or open Breeding.
Your Dex (JUp (D-pad up) then Dexdex button, top bar) keeps a record of every species you've seen, beaten and tamed.
Riding
Riding needs a saddle, made at a Tamer's Bench (there's one at Castaway Cove, the Sky Hub Workshop and every obelisk). The first saddle, for small dinos, unlocks at Tamer level 2. Get on with EX (Square)tap the Ride prompt. Your mount's three moves are 1 2 3RB (R1) R3 Y (Triangle)move buttons, and EX (Square)get off button gets you off. Dinos level up to 30 and unlock new moves on the way. Each dino's page lists when.
Where next
Touch obelisks as you find them: they let you fast travel back. There are 7 race courses, raced on loaner dinos so nobody has an edge, and an event roughly every hour.
