Questions players ask
Is Tame That Dino free?
Yes. It's free to play on Roblox. The store sells passes, dino packs, Tamer's Mash packs and Amber bundles for Robux. Cosmetics never give power, and nothing is a random paid roll.
How do I tame my first dino?
Start with a Dodo on the beach at Castaway Cove: it won't fight back. Bring Tamer's Mash or an Amberberry, start the bond and answer its cues. The beginner guide walks through it, and the taming helper tells you what any dino needs.
What's the fastest food for taming?
Tamer's Mash. Every dino eats it and it tames about three times as fast. Mix it from your bag with meat, a Dodo Egg and an Amberberry.
Does taming time depend on the dino's level?
No. Taming time depends only on the dino's size class. Bigger dinos take longer.
Where is my Stable?
It's a menu, not a place. Press T on PC. On a controller, press Up on the D-pad and pick Tames. On a phone or tablet, tap Tames in the top bar.
How do I ride a dino?
Craft the right saddle at a Tamer's Bench. The small-dino saddle unlocks at Tamer level 2. Bigger dinos need bigger saddles at higher levels. Check each dino's page for its saddle.
What happens when I lose a fight?
Nothing harsh. There's no hunger, and losing just sends you back to try again.
How long is a day on the island?
A full day and night takes 13 minutes. Some dinos only come out at night, and some events only happen at night.
How do I get around faster?
Touch obelisks as you find them. You can fast travel between the ones you've found, and back to the Sky Hub.
Do my own dinos race?
No. Every racer rides the same loaner dino, so races are fair. See Races.
What are Alpha and Rainbow dinos?
Rare variants. They show up more during a Rare Rush, and the whole server hears about it when someone finds one.
When is the Amber Moon?
From launch day, Saturday 24 October 2026, to 7 November. See Events for the exact times and rewards.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. Make a party to explore, fight and take on bosses together. The Ignirex boss is built for groups.
Where do I store items?
At the personal stash chest in Castaway Cove: 40 slots, saved for you.
Which devices can play?
All of them that run Roblox: PC and Mac with keyboard and mouse, Xbox and PlayStation (or any controller on PC), iPhone and Android phones, and iPad and Android tablets. Every menu works with touch and with a controller. The controls page lists every button for each one.

See the controls page. Pick PC, Controller, Phone or Tablet at the top of any page and the control hints across this site change to match.
Where do I get help?
Ask in the Tame That Dino Discord. Players and the team answer questions, and it's the place to report bugs or anything that looks wrong.
Is this site official?
Yes. It's made by the Tame That Dino team, and the numbers come straight from the game's files. If the game and the site ever disagree, the game is right. Tell us in the Discord.
